Plain Vernal is the small design business of Joanna Clark Theriault: a place where designs are inspired by nature and the small details that create a sense of place.

Joanna is influenced by a lifelong interest in handcrafts and textiles and a childhood growing up in suburban Ontario mid-sized cities, while also visiting relatives in more rural communities and the big city of Toronto. Summers and weekends were often spent enjoying the lakes and forests of Ontario. 

Now based in Toronto, Joanna's work reflects longtime interests in gardening, history, and painting, and also reflects a technicality based in her formal training as a design technologist for the AEC industry.
